In this short film, I collaborated with a team of four students to support the narrative of an emotionally manipulative and isolating relationship. For the selected climactic scene, where the relationship finally ends, I redesigned the background ambience to reflect the emotional shift. By darkening tonal textures, reducing environmental presence, and introducing subtle spatial depth, I used atmospheric sound to emphasize the release of tension and underscore the finality of the transition.

As the sole sound effects editor, I built the sonic framework around the film’s themes of time, repetition, and reincarnation. Nearly every effect was rhythmically aligned to a temp-track beep, creating a metronomic undercurrent that reinforced the psychological weight of inevitability and cyclical motion. I used editorial timing and restraint to build tension without tipping into horror, shaping the soundscape to feel contemplative and uncanny rather than overtly frightening.
